Anais Mitchell Presents HADESTOWN. Dec. 10th (L.A.), 11th (S.B.), and 12th (S.F.)

30 Nov

I have the extreme pleasure of singing background vocals with Sara Stranovsky and Sophie Holt in the California presentation of Anais Mitchell’s HADESTOWN.

This is a very special event and album.

Hadestown–the folk opera by Anais Mitchell (and recorded collaboration with Ani DiFranco and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver) is coming to California, and special California guests are teaming up to make it happen in LA, Santa Barbara and SF! Featuring Thao Nguyen, Sean Hayes, John Elliott, Šara Stranovsky, Holland Greco, Sophie Holt, and the Hadestown Orchestra/Michael Chorney Sextet.

Anais Mitchell has been working on this project for several years, and has been presenting some tantalizing glimpses in her previous tours. It is a music concert that tells a story from beginning to end and has been delivered to critical acclaim. Finally, we can experience it live in all its twisted, gleaming genius. This classic tale of sinners, Hell, love and redemption denied, interpreted by Anais Mitchell and company.

Come to the intimate theater of McCabe’s in Santa Monica before it heads up the coast to bigger theaters of the Lobero and Great American Music Hall!

YO!  I’m super stoked to announce that I’ll be playing keys, glockenspiel, percussion, and singing bvs for SCROTE this upcoming Monday (S.F.) and Tuesday (L.A.).  The music and musicians are top notch.  I’m extremely happy to be involved.

Here are all the details.  Read on.  These shows are going to be really special.  Actually, Scrote taught me a new tactic to save energy for a special day.  He said to minimize it….for example, I could say…These shows are going to be totally ho-hum, no big deal.  It’s basically delayed emotional ejaculation.

I have seen some incredible shows at The Roxy.   Some of the best were:

*Amy Winehouse‘s record release show for Back to Black – that ish was like woah

*The B-52′s – Cindy sang “Give Me Back My Man” PERFECTLY in its original key.  The whole band was off the hook & the vibe was cosmic!

*Gnarles Barkley’s record release show for St. Elsewhere – yup.

*Dolly Parton – stood next to Dita Von Teese in line to get in ; )

*The Sex Pistols reunion with all the original members

What I’m telling you is that the place is f-ing epic and you should come.
